Important information for liaisons will be shared across multiple channels. Teams and SharePoint are used to store and serve the information documents that we share and archive. When we distribute new items, send announcements or send newsletters we will share them via email as well as in Teams. As we bring other community of practice tools online, information will be posted there as well.
SharePoint Online
SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive are integrated tools. Most items are available via a series of means. If an item is posted to SharePoint, it’s accessible in Teams and OneDrive, for example. When you are added to a Team you will have access to the Team (MS Teams) as well as the associated SharePoint site. The links to the Transfer Liaison resources are available via the following short links:
Accessing a SUNY.edu Team for the First Time
When first attempting to access any SUNY.edu Team hosted on the Microsoft 365 tenant when you are not already part of one, please sign out before clicking the invitation link. To establish the organization, you cannot already be signed in to the Teams client for accessing Teams on you own campus tenant.
- If already signed in to the Teams desktop client or web app, you may receive an error. Complete the following steps to access the SUNY.edu organization:
- If you are signed in to Microsoft 365 on a web browser, sign-out and close the browser.
- If signed in to the Teams desktop client, sign-out and close the client.
- Open and click on the email invite to the SUNY.edu team once you are logged out.
- Use either the Teams desktop client, or the web app and follow any sign-in prompts.
You should then be able to access the Team and see multiple organizations in the top right.
Switch Between Organizations
To access SUNY resources, you may be required to change your organization. In the example below, access is available for the Teams/Microsoft 365 network at SUNY Empire State as well as SUNY Central (State University of New York).

To access the SUNY Transfer Liaison Teams channel, select “State University of New York” and select the channel from the left-hand pane.

Additional Troubleshooting
If you continue to run into issues, the following troubleshooting steps should be taken:
Be assured you are not also logged into a personal Microsoft 365 account. If you are logged into an account with outlook.com, msn.com, live.com or another non-SUNY 365 account, be assured you log out prior to linking to the SUNY organization.
If you continue to experience issues, there may be an issue associated with your login (Entra ID / Azure Active Directory). Please contact your campus-based help desk. Your Help Desk should initiate a help ticket with SUNY System Administration if they cannot diagnose the issue locally. If needed by your IT team, the URL to open a ticket with SUNY is below. If you do not have central support, you may also open the ticket directly.
