Overview
The below guide covers the process to send a fax from System Administration. Please note only members of the System Administration e-mail system (e.g. first.last@suny.edu) will be able to send faxes in this manner and the user must be set up prior to first sending.
The faxes are transmitted digitally via the Outlook Client.
Guide
- Open a new e-mail message in Outlook (desktop or web) client.
- On the TO: line use the following syntax to enter the receiving parties phone number:
faxnumber@suny.fax e.g., 5185551234@suny.fax
- The number should be the full 10 digits of the number you wish to dial
- The Subject: line will be used as the cover page note of the fax.
- The body of the e-mail will be the first page(s) and any attachments will follow.
- Most common document types are supported for attachment (e.g., PDF, Word, Excel)
- You can leave the body blank and just include attachments, keep in mind if you have a signature it will print on the first page if not removed from the body.
- The sender (i.e. you) information will be filled in based on the account the e-mail is sent from.
- After sending you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
