What is a transfer equivalency?

Body

A transfer equivalency refers to how a course you’ve taken at one college or university is matched to a course at another institution for the purpose of awarding transfer credit. When a school reviews your transcript, they compare the content, credit hours, and learning outcomes of your previous courses to their own. If a course is considered equivalent, it may count as credit hours and/or toward degree requirements, general education, or electives. STEP and the Transfer Navigator serve as a transfer equivalency databases to help you understand how your credits may transfer between SUNY institutions.
