Service Overview
The service is comprised of two components. Customers may utilize one or both of these options:
- Firewall Consultation
- Change Management and impact analysis consultation for customer firewall devices; SUNYNet shall review intended changes for a service-facing campus security gateway and advise on best practices and considerations.
- Firewall and edge security architecture consultation; SUNYNet will perform a formal needs analysis with campus personnel to help meet project milestones and operational expectations.
- Monthly Firewall Health Check for Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower and Palo Alto Networks platforms.
- Unbiased annual Firewall Health Report including health grades throughout the entire year.
- Managed Firewall
- Supported Platforms: Cisco ASA, Palo Alto NGFW, Cisco Firepower
- Change Request Fulfillment on supported platforms; SUNYNet personnel shall commit customer-authorized and approved changes to customer network device configurations.
- Remote Software Patching and Upgrades; SUNYNet shall coordinate with the customer to apply software and code upgrades within designated maintenance windows.
- Device Monitoring and Alerting; SUNYNet will monitor device availability and utilization and alert the customer based on preferred thresholds and urgency.
- Incident Response Assistance; SUNYNet shall provide the customer with troubleshooting and remediation of service-affecting symptoms within the context of the security gateway and neighboring devices.
The service is backed by a supporting Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Participating Institution Agreement (PIA). Both documents are available for consideration below.
Benefits:
- SUNYNet NOC personnel will act as an extension to your network administration group with the goal of offloading operational tasks.
- SUNY SOC members can leverage SUNYNet personnel as part of their remediation plans following perimeter engagements and other SOC activities.
- Firewall change request fulfillment including impact analysis. Remote device monitoring including availability metrics and outage reports.
- Consultation without consulting fees. On-demand and scheduled reporting U-wide perspective.
