How to report a "phish" or phishing email

Overview

Phishing is the practice of defrauding users into giving up their usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, and other personal or confidential information. Phishing emails will often try to get you to click on links that take you to fake websites. They often pretend to be from organizations such as a bank, PayPal, Amazon, or even TeamDynamix.

If you receive a phishing email (AKA a fraudulent email purporting to be from a legitimate sender that try to get you to disclose information such as usernames/passwords, or other sensitive data) - you can report these messages to the Office of Information Technology quickly via Outlook.  How to do so depends on how you access your email.

Using the Phish Alert Report button is both quick and easy, and gets us the information we need to investigate the issue.

Note:  If you receive marketing or unsolicited emails that are not phishing emails, you can mark those messages as "Junk Email" which will move them to the Junk Email folder and keep them out of your Inbox.  Please see the guide, How to manage spam emails for more information.
